He is an adopted child, an injured adult and the first contact between them is going to be difficult. But an unexpected situation will force them to get closer and discover each other.
STRENGTHS
This drama is truly a beautiful love story in all its forms: filial, fraternal, friendly and of course romantic. Without ever sinking into the meek faults that can sometimes be encountered. He explores a lot of really interesting subjects: K-pop and its fans, sometimes invasive, art and the museum, adoption… And as usual, everything is mixed and nested in a fair way throughout the episodes. Each universe has its place and brings its little extra to the story. Something rather rare in dramas, the main characters are in their thirties. And when their story starts, we follow its entire evolution. This makes it a really successful mature romance in which we let ourselves embark without difficulty. Be careful, this can become a real crush. This drama explores various kinds of relationships through Sung Deok Mi: sister and faithful friend. These two interactions are important and set a nice scene. Her best friend shares the same passion as a fan but is married with one child. So we discover this passion from another angle. The relationship with one's "brother" raises questions about how everyone can live their own feelings and find their feet with each other even if we have known each other since we were children. The relationships with her family, to which she is very close, also bring all notes of disagreement and support that one would expect to find. This is very well worn and thought-provoking.
The drama doesn't just revolve around the hidden life of Seong Deok Mi; Deeper topics will take place in the plot. For example, regarding Ryan Gold, they could have stopped at the simple character of director of the museum. But no, he also has material that he brings us wonderfully especially in the second part of the episodes. Adopted, even if he was a happy child, he is marked by it. And little by little, pan by pan, we discover this past that is revealed, for him, in the form of memories, and for us, through our screen.
As usual all the stories and characters are connected to each other, and of course, humor remains present as in all comedies, and brings its little extra.
CHARACTERS
Honor the ladies with the character of Sung Deok Mi, played by the well-known actress Park Min Young. Seen among others in the beautiful romantic comedy "What's Wrong with Secretary Kim", she also appears in dramas including the latest: "Forecasting Love and Weather" available on Netflix. It is therefore a well-known face of the Korean small screen. Regarding her character, she was able to brilliantly play this thirty-year-old with two facets, who also knows how to distinguish between the singer she adores, the "imaginary" part of her life, and her real life with the man she falls in love with. She manages to convey to us in a precise way the difference she makes between the "fan", and the "woman". It's really interesting to discover. Regarding the role of Ryan Gold, it is Kim Jae Wook, who we find. For hardcore fans of rather old dramas, we knew him among others in " Coffee Prince" in 2007 with the actor Gong Yoo, even if since we have seen him in many productions. One can only be touched by his story of an adult wounded to the soul blocked by his deep wounds. His playing is fair and he knows perfectly how to strike a chord with us. All the secondary actors manage to find their place and each brings the little touch in addition. The Kpop singer, the brother lost in his feelings, the best friend and his married life, all have stories that we enjoy discovering.
LA ROMANCE
Yes, because it remains a romantic comedy, and one of the most beautiful of the year 2019. Because of its construction, the mature side of the characters, the fact that they manage to communicate, and that we do not sink into impossible romance with obstacles at every turn. We are totally carried away by their story and we do not get bored for a moment. Nothing is overplayed or childish. This is a change from many romantic dramas that play more on the "teen drama" side. Throughout the episodes, Korean style, by small details that seem insignificant, we witness live the birth and evolution of their feelings. And even better, once launched, we see the establishment of their love and the blossoming of their history by understanding, listening, respect for each other, their history but also and above all for who they are, without judgment. All these fleeting little moments, these brushes, that the Koreans perfectly master are to be savored again in this drama. Several scenes of the main couple are less restrained than usual and will make the little heart of all the blue flowers behind their screen throb. The simplicity and sincerity of the feelings and moments of couple that they live, carry alone this magnificent story. One might think that the scenario is simple and that everything is already stitched with white thread. But in fact, the actors, their games and especially their stories, make that we do not pick up. The romantic story is really beautiful, and is set up all along, with thirty-year-old characters who do not change who they are for each other, but learn to love each other as they are. The world of art, fans, Kpop and adoption alternately question, touch or shake up. When you are looking for a very beautiful romantic comedy, rather mature, then we advise you without hesitation this quality drama. You will not be able to help but smile behind your screen whether for the humor or for the very pretty scenes it contains. And if you want even more romantic comedy with a touch of fantasy, we recommend "Doom at your service".
