The year 2021 will see the release in blueray box set of the complete animated series Oban Star Racers. This reissue will mark the 15th anniversary of the release of a unique work, a masterstroke of a young French studio and a sensational entry into the world of animation of a group of young animators. We will explain why this future edition is very good news.
Oban Star Racers : a project from afar
Back in 2006. A team of French writers, directors and animators is completing the Oban Star Racers project . It is the culmination of a story where audacity, perseverance and talents come together. The story goes back 5 years earlier in 2001. A small group of animators made the short film Molly star racers, a pilot episode of a series that still exists only in their heads. 
Their work is making a nice reputation. The team grows and decides to transform the trial by embarking on the production of a series. The young animators found the Sav ! The World Productions. They move to Japan. They seduced the Japanese producer Bandai, working in collaboration with a small Japanese studio. And to top it off, they hire composer Yoko Kanno (who worked on Cowboy Bebop , excuse me).
The best of French touch and cool Japan together
The fruit of their work was released between 2006 and 2007 on the screens of 120 countries. Oban star racers is a "space race opera" of 26 episodes that leaves a lasting mark on memories by its beauty, the intelligence of its history and its skilful mix of influences. Speed Racer, Redline, Space dandy, F-zero are summoned in an ambitious work that sings his love of pop culture and geek universes. The French touch finds one of its most beautiful incarnations. While the Franco-Japanese collaboration shows its full potential. After a DVD release, numerous reruns, the studio managed after 3 years to recover all the rights to offer a high-end reissue of the cult series.
