The latest episode of WandaVision is finally available. After eight uneven but intriguing chapters, Jac Schaeffer offers the denouement of all this madness. It brings together all the elements of this first season through a devilishly effective finale, which allows you to learn more about The Red Witch.
WandaVision: it's better not to "annoy" Wanda…
This last episode is a return to the roots. After an intriguing season, offering a very different approach to the usual products of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Jac Schaeffer decides to return home. It uses the usual codes of the MCU to stage a muscular and effective final confrontation. Wanda will have to come out with the big means to get rid of Agatha Harkness. Jac Schaeffer stages a stylized and enjoyable witch fight, offering some superb visual flashes. All the elements of the plot are solved, finally making it possible to make full sense of the whole series. Jac Schaeffer has the intelligence not to end his show on a happy end, preferring to weaken Wanda a little more. But this time, the latter will go into the depths of black magic to learn more about her…
Spoilers alert
This second paragraph will be full of spoilers to analyze the last chapter of this first season. Because this episode 9 is full of references of all kinds, whether on the entire MCU, on the Red Witch or on the relationship to comics. Because finally, the primary interest of this series, and especially of this conclusion, is to learn more about the Red Witch. Unsurprisingly, the latter has an immeasurable power, which is put to good use in this superb ending. The viewers learn that Wanda has not yet revealed the extent of her powers, and that her meeting with Agatha will allow her to develop her abilities more abundantly. The audience also understands that Agatha is seeking to recover the magic of her peers, in the same way as Mordo in Doctor Strange. Finally, Monica Rambeau is finally asserting herself as Spectrum, and should logically return in the future. Finally, we learn the identity of Vif Argent. Unfortunately for the fans, it's not about Pietro. The return of Evan Peters was therefore a false lead, since it is not the fastest X-Men in the world. Thanks to Monica Rambeau, Jac Schaeffer reveals to fans that it is actually Agatha Harkness' alleged husband, Ralph, under the influence of the demonic witch… We do not hide from you that this reversal of situation is a little disappointing, and that no X-Men has answered the call for the moment. As for Evan Peters, there is very little chance that he will return to his role again… Frustrating!
Dark Wanda
But more than the episode itself, it is what it announces afterwards that is exciting. Jac Schaeffer has therefore offered an incredible opening for phase 4 of the MCU which promises to be explosive and totally hallucinated. Because the post-credits scenes promise very, very heavy. Already, the White Vision is walking freely. Even if Vision allowed him to unlock, it is difficult to know what will be the future involvement of the android, who has freed himself from his chains of the S.W.O.A.D. Will he be a hero or a villain? Answer soon. But the most intriguing obviously focuses on Wanda. The latter has gained in power, but also in ambition. The last scene of WandaVision reveals her learning black magic spells in Agatha Harkness' book: The Darkhold. This one is composed of evil spells written on an indestructible scroll. Thus, the heroine changes style, puts on her comic book costume, and becomes much more disturbing than in her previous appearances. The Red Witch seems to be sinking to the dark side little by little, and will certainly use her new abilities to bring her children back to life once again. At least that's what this last aesthetically superb sequence suggests. She should logically cross the road of Dr. Strange in the next film of the saga. And since Agatha Harkness confirms that Wanda is stronger than the Sorcerers Supremes, it should suggest an impressive confrontation between the two characters… https://youtu.be/rIi59A7ALV8 A very convincing final episode of WandaVision. Even if this denouement lacks a little surprise, it allows to develop more abundantly the story of Wanda. The character becomes the powerful Red Witch, and it promises heavy for the rest of the MCU.
