An amazing collaboration that celebrates the history and heritage of these two universes, the "Glamping", very fashionable in the 70s, and the return to the roots. Gucci announces collaboration with The North Face: #TheNorthFacexGucci Collaborations between Luxury Houses and Streetwear are becoming more and more numerous. After Nike x Dior, Prada x Adidas, Maison Margiela x Reebok and now Gucci x TheNorthFace.
But why Gucci with TheNorthFace?
Environmental activist, specializing in sportswear and accessories, The North Face brand is mainly oriented towards mountain and trail activities. In addition, the brand sponsored for twelve years one of the most famous races in the world, the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc. On the Gucci side, Alessandro Michele, the artistic director of Gucci, famous for his taste for the retro aesthetic of the 70s, wanted to resume here his love of the Seventies. Thus, he was inspired and revisited for this occasion original designs of The North Face in the 70s. Fabrics with its wide retro color ranges have been brought out of The North Face archives. These vintage prints and colors merge and form the new logo of both houses. The North Face's inline semicircle (which symbolizes Yosemite Park's Half-Dome) pairs perfectly with Gucci's green and red stripes.
What does this merger of the two brands offer for this new collection?
Diverse and varied, the new collection includes ready-to-wear, accessories, luggage, shoes but also tents and sleeping bags. Targeted highlight, the outdoor know-how of The North Face. The collection at the Ready-to-Wear level is complete. Ranging from quilted coats to padded vests, shirts, t-shirts, overalls, windbreakers, hiking boots and sweatshirts. The collection is already launched in the section – GucciPins in China since December 29, 2020 and will land worldwide in the first weeks of January.
The commitment of this collaboration?
Under the sign of eco-responsibility, the luggage contains Econyl, a nylon fabric made from regenerated materials such as fishing nets, carpets and other waste. While the packaging is made from sustainably managed and fully recyclable forest materials. To promote and enrich this new partnership, Daniel Shea carried out this campaign entirely in the Alps. A real breath of fresh air around this trip, a group of hikers dressed in Gucci who camp by the lakes and bring us back to a mountain atmosphere of the 70s.
