Earlier this summer, we had the chance to see our favorite plumber again in a brand new installment, Mario Strikers: Battle League Football. Two scenarios arise, those who discover the "Mario Foot" license for the first time and those who had the pleasure of discovering it in its WII version, 15 years ago or even on Gamecube 17 years ago, just that! In any case, we (re)present the game and its new features!

What's new?
Unlike its predecessors, in Mario Strikers: Battle League Football, your team is only composed of the big names of the saga: Mario, Peach, Donkey Kong, Yoshi,… Goodbye to the Marto brothers, Boo or Topi Taupe. This novelty was difficult for us since, let's face it, crushing our enemies with a hammer was very satisfying. But this new opus is not to be outdone! Indeed, new attacks, dodges, … Appeared. A (new) challenge for both veterans and novices! On the character side, modification of your players' equipment is also available. Head, arm, torso, leg, everything is modifiable. These elements affect your speed, strength, shooting, passing and technique. It's up to you to find the best mix in order to be the strongest! One of the very interesting visual novelties during the matches is the fact of choosing half of your stadium. Indeed, the stadium is divided into two parts, each representing one of the two teams. Whether you prefer a lava fortress, haunted mansion, royal castle, jungle setting or stadium worthy of the Mario universe, you should be able to find your happiness. 15 years ago, the Mario Strikers saga did not offer the possibility of playing online, it is now done. Indeed, it is possible to play with your friends or players from all over the world. You can gather up to eight players in front of a TV, on a single Nintendo Switch console. You can also play as a duo on one console and connect to three other consoles to play local or online multiplayer. However, we remind you that you must have the Nintendo membership to access the online game. In connection with online gambling, you now have the opportunity to join a "club strikers". Play with your classmates in online matches and rank among the best teams in the different seasons. Between each season, you have the opportunity to play friendly matches, in order to train and win a few coins. The clubs are customizable, name, color of jerseys, stadiums, goal, … and so on. This is a huge novelty for the "Online" part of the game.
The improvements?
On the improvement side, we will start with mega-strikes, finally, hyper-strike. The principle is the same, perform a super charged attack before your opponent tackles you. The latter will allow you to score two goals at once. Unlike the previous version, your team will need to be "loaded" for you to achieve it. Don't panic, orbs regularly fall on the ground. In addition, each member of your team is able to perform a hyper-strike, unlike the WII version where only the captain was capable of it. However, one option has been removed. When the opponent made a mega-strike, you played as the goalkeeper to stop enemy goals. In this version, you just have to cross your fingers for your guard to stop them. That said, it's easier to stop them with a WII controller than with a Switch controller… On the competition side, we find the famous cups. But unlike the old games, these are composed of double eliminations, "Main Tournaments" and "Secondary Tournaments". Indeed, even if you lose your first match, you can win the cup if you win all the following ones. Small precision, to win the cup, being in the main tournament, you will only need one final match. Being in the secondary tournament, you will have to succeed in two matches.However, if you lose in the secondary tournament, that's the end of the competition… well, almost. Indeed, you can pay to replay the match and try to win it. This possibility is unlimited, but the price will increase as you try. Finally, we find Mario's legendary objects. Bananas, stars, mushrooms, shells or bombs, all will be there. It's up to you to be the best and use them properly! Do not panic, training is available from the beginning of the game. It will allow you to master all the possibilities that this game offers you.
