Bjørn Berge returned to blues rock with the album Heavy Gauge. The Norwegian guitarist, virtuoso of the 12 strings, has released The Wrangler Man, the first single from his album Heavy Gauge, expected for March 19, 2021. Bjørn Berge is back with his 12-string guitar and his blowtorch voice. And you have to listen to it to understand the power of songwriter who navigates between blues and hard rock with an incredible feeling. Performing mainly solo, armed with his only guitar, his foot to beat the measure and his phenomenal energy, these incandescent compositions do not fail to make European and American salivate. For the album, he assembled a shock trio (Kjetil Ulland on bass, Kim Christer Hylland on drums). It was in Haugesund, a town on the west coast of Norway where he is from, that he started playing guitar around the age of 13. After playing bluegrass for several years, the revelation came when he discovered Robert Johnson, Elmore James, Leo Kottke and John Hammond Jr. which will be his major influences. Then came the discovery of rock and hard rock. Today, Bjørn Berge draws on all these references with a brilliance that asserts itself more with each album. Musically, Bjørn Berge invents a silky and muscular blues rock, both classic and personal, with a suave bear voice in seduction mode and compositions from which he lets Hendrixian solos mute while balancing the words between solidity and finesse. This makes you want to see him on stage. Let's hope he can return to France, the country that immediately adopted him, for a tour planned after the summer. In the meantime, we can shiver when we discover The Wrangler Man, a title that opens the album and sets the tone by bringing us to the heart of the matter.
