PILOTE is Christelle Armenio's solo project. Originally from Dijon, the self-taught multi-instrumentalist and producer has created a universe of which she alone has the controls… A project close to the clouds, a dreamy synthpop that comes from the heart, enveloping a musical and personal transformation assumed.

Passionate about guitar and airplanes from an early age, it is finally towards music that the singer will take refuge. Painfully putting aside her dream of becoming an airline pilot, she made it her stage name. It is between Switzerland and France, that she makes her first scales and thus devotes herself entirely to music. After a first album, PILOTE  signed at the age of 23, Garance Production and Universal Music, writing for other artists. It is through her experiences that the young woman takes a liking to musical production and arrangements.

After several years in the Dijon group Hilldale, it is towards other sounds that PILOTE wishes to fly. She then quickly equipped herself with several keyboards and vintage basses to create a more singular sound and closer to her Anglo-Saxon influences.

"ENTROPIC HEART", A SYNTHPOP METAMORPHOSIS

Inspired by the lo-fi sounds of his childhood and influenced by bands like Air, Kate Bush, Bjork, Au Revoir Simone or Fleet Wood Mac, PILOTE's music is defined as an atmospheric collision, sailing between charm and naivety.

After a first EP in collaboration with Charlotte Pierre on keyboards, PILOTE moved to New York in 2019. There she met Jonathan Benedict (Hyperballade Music, Björk, Rihanna) and undertook the project of this very first album that she would finish in Paris during the pandemic.

Through her "dreamy" synths and delicate voice, she delivers a joyfully nostalgic music that is distinguished by resolutely pop melodies. There are stories of unfinished love, confused friendships or a nebulous exploration of women's place in this ever-changing world. Live, we find her alone, multi-instrumentalist, going from guitar to bass or keyboard in a jiffy, all signed on her own independent label called Antartic Records.

While waiting for the release of his opus on October 21st, we present you in preview the single Try To Explain, a title embodying his breakup in love and music and sealing the beginning of a promising solo career.
