After two excellent first films, comedian Kheiron is back directing with Brutus VS César. Available on Amazon Prime Video, the film brings together an impressive cast including Kheiron himself, Thierry Lhermitte, Gérard Darmon, Ramzy Bedia, Artus and Pierre Richard. Unfortunately for Khereon fans, Brutus VS Caesar is a total failure… Focus!

Brutus VS Caesar: a low-end comedy

And that's a shame. Because Kheiron's first two films (especially the first one actually) are undeniable successes. With Nous trois ou rien, he recounted his childhood and that of his parents with a lot of personality and strength. With Mauvaises Herbes, he proposed a comedy about the suburbs touching and full of veracity. But with Brutus VS Caesar, the comedian collapses in a forced comedy, and which is sorely lacking in soul. The fault, perhaps, to the subject. Since this theme is very far from his first films, which had a strong personal aspect. Here, he tries to offer a mainstream comedy, yet unraveled with emotion and true meaning. Review "Brutus VS César" by Kheiron: French comedy in pain Unfortunately, Brutus VS César is at the bottom of the basket of French comedies. A heavy proposal, which skates from A to Z in an embarrassing and low-end humor. Kheiron fails to make his audience smile, who are deeply bored by this rereading of Caesar's death. Even Ramzy's talent was not enough to infuse any interest in this French blockbuster. Kheiron wants to play in the big leagues, but would have done better to continue with his more intimate and confidential films.

A cruel lack of emotion

Besides the lack of effective humor, Brutus VS Caesar also suffers from a terrible lack of soul and personality. It's overall uninteresting, bland, tasteless, and ultimately very boring. A tedious comedy, which never manages to find its rhythm, its tone or its raison d'être. The Dantesque cast does not change this total shipwreck… Review "Brutus VS César" by Kheiron: French comedy in pain Even if Kheiron tries to put his own, the filmmaker is obviously better in emotion than in humor. He finds it more accurate when he speaks of subjects that affect him directly than when he rushes into a pitiful rereading of the universe of ancient Rome. It's difficult to go down like that Kheiron, as he shares a lot of sympathy and benevolence, but for once, the actor has crashed, as a director as a comedian. Because overall, Brutus VS Caesar, it's still very uninteresting… After two excellent films, Kheiron collapses with Brutus vs Cesar. A pushy comedy, without identity, without flavor, without rhythm. The floodgates fall into the water, the realization is abysmal poverty, and the rendering is more like a YouTube production than cinema. https://youtu.be/OU_Z9Gw3oik
