The story of Mahalia Jackson is fascinating. A gospel singer born in New Orleans, the one who scoured the floors of Chicago will eventually sing at the White House. Mahalia and me, a show that allows you to discover a black, American woman. Accompanied by two musicians, black American classic gospel songs follow one another on stage. We discover in such a touching way a woman, her fight for freedom. We discover a violent, sad time. A time when black and white cross without talking to each other. Mahalia and Me is that, an ode to hope, to the new world that is possible. A show mixing theater and singing that in a room reminds us of those small bars found in the delta. These places where at the beginning of the last century, we found blacks playing, singing a music to universal suffering. Mahalia et Moi is currently available at the Théo theatre in Paris and will be on tour all over France.
