The Kartoffeln company performed its show Icy Plage as part of the Festival Le Printemps des rues on September 26 and 27. The beach, its rituals, postures and rules of decency so different from those of other public places. How do our bodies expose themselves in the public space, between what we want to show and what we want to hide? Tanning, donning swimsuits, inflating buoys… So many actions taken up here in tasty choreographies in which everyone will recognize themselves. The show is composed of a succession of sketches of a theater based on gesture. Played outdoors in the public space, day or night, it interacts with the place. Transplanting the world of the beach to an urban environment is surprising and reveals its particular uses. The gestural material comes from the observation of people at the beach: postures and gestures are broken down and reorganized to bring out their comic and/or choreographic potential. This shift work on gestures is combined with the manipulation of objects (towels, buoys, window mannequin…), objects which, most often, are drivers of movement. Jazz, tango, rock, sirtaki… Each sketch has its own rhythm and atmosphere. A family show, fun and where everyone recognizes each other!
