The house of Victor Hugo gives pride of place to painters close to the famous artist. Louis Boulanger is in the spotlight until March 5, 2023.

Louis Boulanger: the painter of the Mazeppa

He was probably the closest to the author known for works that are reference books of French literature such as Les Misérables or Notre Dame de Paris. This dreamy painter was part of prestigious circles since he rubbed shoulders with Dumas (The Three Musketeers, The Count of Monte Cristo) or Eugène Giraud. He had great success with Mazeppa, a work that exemplified Byron's famous poem and gave him a higher status. He is called the painter of Mazeppa, but there is more to it than that. His work is rich and this exhibition honors him with 180 treasures. A great opportunity to dive into the life of this romantic artist.

Ossip Zadkine: One of the greatest masters of cubist sculpture

We plunge into a completely different universe with the Zadkine Museum which celebrates its 40th anniversary. The exhibition "Une vie d'ateliers" which will be on view until April 2, 2023 offers us a look at the studio of two artists. On the program of this event, more than a hundred works (masterpieces by Zadkine, paintings by Prax and unpublished photographs by Marc Vaux or André Kertész.  A very nice exclusivity is one of the highlights of the exhibition. The loan by the Museum of Grenoble of the work "a girl's head", one of the first creations carved in Zadkine's marble.
