Sneakers a social marker
The exhibition traces the history of the sneaker. Democratized in the twentieth century to play sports, it has become a true political and social symbol. In the 80s, black minorities personalized their shoes to stand out, an object symbolic of nonconformism. This trend towards personalization is now very widespread:

A fashion accessory prized by designers
The different fashion houses appropriate the sneaker. This is the case of Karl Lagerfeld in the 70s for Chloé. The trend is followed by Chanel, Prada, Balenciaga. Today, it has become a luxury accessory that can be worn with a designer outfit or a suit.
