The Béjart Ballet Lausanne takes over the Palais des Congrès in Paris from 7 to 11 February to perform one of Béjart's most beautiful ballets: The Magic Flute, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's latest opera.

Event for dance lovers, the visits of the Béjart Ballet Lausanne are always rare moments not to be missed. Gil Roman, artistic director of the Company, takes up Béjart's famous choreography on Mozart's masterful and magical work. The 44 dancers set their steps to the musical version of the Berlin Philharmonic, conducted by Karl Böhm in 1964. The ballet of the Magic Flute was inaugurated on 10 March 1981 at the Cirque Royal in Brussels. This masterful show, lasting nearly three hours, is, in the words of Maurice Béjart: "a fairytale that takes us into the pure poetry of childhood or genius, then, and above all, a precise, rigorous, inspired ritual. " The Magic Flute at the Palais des Congrès with the Béjart Ballet LausanneThe Magic Flute at the Palais des Congrès with the Béjart Ballet Lausanne Through the alternation of magical or comic scenes, this ballet faithfully stages Mozart's score, makes the music visible and reveals the essence of the movement that lives in its heart. A philosophical fable and initiatory tale, The Magic Flute advocates the acceptance of human fallibility, the triumph of the couple over disunity and the victory of the Enlightenment over darkness.

Here is an excerpt from the Magic Flute by the Ballet Béjart Lausanne:

The "Flute" is a challenge for dancers, by its length, right? "It's true that it's long to learn, it's difficult, the musical work is extreme, it takes specific work to dance to the voice. And there is work for the Sprecher who has to take several votes for several characters. The choreographer must really put himself at the service of the score without slipping his personal imagery. It's like what Maurice did for Beethoven's IX. Just put the music in steps and pictures." Gil Roman
