The brand new theater, the 13th Art, has been transformed until October 29 into a grandiose circus to welcome Cirkopolis of the circus Eloize.
A show launched at full speed where the arts of circus, dance and theater collide in a staging inspired by the film Metropolis. Metropolis? The film by Fritz Lang, who denounced in 1927 a society in which work dehumanized the person. Here the show plunges us into a retro-futuristic setting where ten acrobatic dancers push the limits imposed by the "factory city".
The show is on the border of dance, circus and theater.
The pitch? The main character realizes that he wants to escape these gears of the "factory city", to leave this dehumanized environment that would eventually crush him. It's funny but it reminds me a bit of our daily routine! He will gradually succeed in freeing himself from this repetitive work thanks to colleagues who turn into enchanting artists. I don't know about you, but all this inspires me!
Cirkopolis or circus virtuosos
Cirkopolis confirms both the perfect mastery of these athletes in the execution of their acts and the desire carried by the company for more than twenty years to get the circus arts out of their shackles. The visual effects are original and the play of light and videos perfectly accompany the choreographies. They really bring something to the story. It feels like it!
The artists are young, strong, beautiful, and above all full of talent. The numbers are poetic while being technically challenging. Everything is creative and modern, far from the dusty circus. The rope, trapeze and even the Chinese matte become sexy.If the girls bring grace, the boys bring humor in breathtaking numbers that flow smoothly. Even dressed in gray tristounets costumes as possible, they manage to share with the public their optimism.
Cirkopolis is a magnificent show with a beautiful story, a beautiful moral for a real pleasure. For nearly 1h15, we let ourselves be transported by the numbers of these sportsmen machines.
Between circus and modern dance with perfect choreography, the talented artists take us on a journey in an elegant staging and impressive futuristic video sets. Go for it!
