The musical epic of Angelik is told at the Théâtre La Loge on 15-16-17-18 May 2018. It is written and directed by Moustafa Benaïbout, one of the members of the comedy collective Yes vous aime.
Satire and musical tale
Angelik Bohem, a star princess, strands in Galata, a small Bulgarian village, instead of landing in London, following an intergalactic journey. She flees her planet to take refuge on Earth, but fate takes her to a land plagued by revolutions. This is the story of the woman who guided a handful of immigrants to the West in 1989 in the Balkans, then subject to strong political tensions.
Angelik is a musical epic to the rhythm of gypsy or folk melodies of the Balkans, à la Klezmer, under the direction and arrangement of Marion Jeanson, Camille Demoures and Romain Tiriakian.
Both a satire of an unstable society and an ode to joie de vivre, Angelik is a musical tale, using both the richness of Balkan languages and folklore by trying to answer this question: "At what point do you stop being an immigrant? – Moustafa Benaïbout
A company of talents
Angelik is written by Moustafa Benaïbout and Aurore Frémont. Also director of the play, Moustafa is known for his presence in the comedy collective Yes vous aime. An actor from the Conservatoire National Supérieur d'Art Dramatique, Moustafa has written several fantastic plays and was chosen by Daniel Mesguich in 2011 to direct his original play: Against the Monster of Nosgoth.
The actors on stage have diverse but equally remarkable backgrounds. Aurore Fremont, Anna Carraud, Mathilde Roerich, Romain Tiriakian, Marion Jeanson, Juliette Savary and Ismael Tifouch Nieto will play Angelik Bohem as well as his Roma, Bulgarian and Romanian companions.
