AGATHA at the Café de la danse until October 7

Of Marguerite Duras I knew only L'Amant; his autofiction won the Prix Goncourt and the Ritz-Paris-Hemingway Prize in 1986. Text certainly difficult to access but overwhelming. It was with great enthusiasm that I learned that Le café de la danse was offering, until October 7, an adaptation of his novel Agatha.

We told you about it in June. What more can I say about Agatha?

As in her book L'Amant, Marguerite Duras shows us that the force of love and its consequences are still and always a matter of problems .

Here love is both impossible and forbidden. The play deals with a rarely discussed subject: the incest experienced by Agatha.

Brother and Sister "Agatha" meet that day in the family villa of their holidays, for a last farewell.

It is said that love stories end badly (… in general) .. and that goodbyes are never easy. The farewell of this villa Agatha will not be an exception to the rule and will be impetuous.

It is She who made the choice to leave to definitively put an end to this forbidden and secret love. He, who cannot live without her, threatens to kill himself. Together, they will relive that fateful day when everything changed for them.

The text is meant to be raw but Florian Carove and Alexandra Larangot totally in their roles, both fair and sincere, give the impetus and the dynamism necessary to make us want to believe.

Hans Peter Cloos, a German theatre and opera director, chose to insert visual arts into this drama. It was a nice surprise: no more dusty theater, Hans Peter Cloos offers us filmed landscapes, broadcast on a musical background, and gives his actors a Gopro allowing them to film themselves in turn live.
