"The expectation is in proportion to the happiness it prepares" as Michel Dupuy says. One could almost apply this quote to Playboi Carti. After more than 2 years of waiting, the new album of the American rapper is finally available! Released on December 25, Whole Lotta Red shows us another musical facet. It was in 2017 that the artist became known worldwide with his mixtape Playboi Carti, containing his great hits Magnolia and Wokeuplikethis*. A success that he meets again in 2018 with his album Die Lit, which reaches the third place of the Billboard Hot 200.
What does Whole Lotta Red look like?
First of all, let's talk about the cover. Designed by Art Dealer, it makes a nod to Slash, a punk rock magazine published across the Atlantic between 1977 and 1980. On the cover we see a Playboi Carti in the form of a drawing, his face immersed in chiaroscuro and sporting a cross around his neck. One thing is certain, we can say that this cover is in the image of this opus. Playboi Carti has described his music as "alternative". An opus produced by Kanye West that can be found featuring on the track Go2DaMoon. Other artists were also invited to the party such as Kid Cudi or Future for a total of 24 songs, 1 hour 03 listening. With nearly 125,000 copies sold in the first week according to Hits Daily Double projections, this new album would be the best start of his career. However, fans say they are disappointed on Twitter. Let's hope that the Deluxe version, confirmed by the artist, can remedy this.
