M3gan – "The greatest technological progress since the automobile" A sort of mix between Terminator and Chucky, the film is to be taken more like a science fiction comedy than a horror film One of the proofs is the absence of jump scares, the scourge of today's horror cinema. Gerard Johnstone quietly installs a wave of suspense. Nevertheless, the ending with its Transformers successor is slightly disconcerting and the death of the young protagonist's parents is a little too quickly and easily evacuated.
The power of the dog – "Protect my soul from the sword, and my treasure from the power of the dog"
Western set in an ambient masculinity, it tells the story of a young man's quest for identity and sex. I enjoyed a plethora of scenes: the one where he devirilizes a bull almost with his teeth and without gloves, the one where the cowboy arpetes declares to see a dog barking in the morphology of the hill, the other is amazed, that of the charivari caused by the charcined skins. Only, it is a shame to see the migration of authors to streaming services which will result in a disaster for cinemas, closing one after the other.
Rebel – "The Islamic State is not the bad guys; TV, it says anything"
Rebel is a drama punctuated by unreal singing sequences. These include lyrics worthy of an influencer fan of Jul who wants to be a rapper. It shows rapes, beheadings, torture that we are made to endure for two and fifteen hours; In short, it is a somewhat vain race to sensationalism on the part of the two Belgian directors. The film does not exploit at all the reasons for this radicalization and therefore misses its subject. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QO_5NxVNsJk
