" I am very happy to be able to put my music at the service of such a great cause: to preserve the oceans of our beautiful planet. I hope it touches the heart," said the Cuban-born singer and violinist. "I specially composed Yemayá (remix) for the United Nations World Oceans Day on June 8. This title is inspired by the Yoruba goddess of the sea, it symbolizes Mother Earth represented by the colors blue and white: blue for the placid waters of the sea and white to illustrate the foam of the waves and the power of the ocean." Yilian Cañizares' style reflects his different influences. There are touches of jazz, classical, Cuban music, with a large place left to improvisation. She sings in Spanish, Yoruba and French.
