The actor Michel Frenna ended his Parisian dates on June 17 with a last performance at the Sentier des Halles. The applause was numerous for a comic who gave everything, on stage and to the writing of a surprising text. His show will take place in Avignon from July 16 to 26.
An hour of supercharged show
Just before a decisive hearing, Michel Frenna dissects today's society and its thirty-year-old anxieties. On an exclusively frenetic rhythm, he hooks the spectator by rarely falling into the ease of a tired humorous register. The challenge when mastering humor like him is to avoid bringing out the old jokes that everyone comes out. At least he yields little to temptation.
Michel Frenna: provocative comic and master of his subject
In addition to some jokes that we have heard too much everywhere, Michel Frenna succeeds best in his effect on the public when he jostles him. This usual technique in one man show works here on a participatory audience that encourages the comedian to chain attacks, always well felt. Sometimes high-flying, sometimes very low, the spades are always effective in this quality stand-up.
It is very rare to see a show spin a humor of high quality for an hour. Michel Frenna gives us an effective example of the mixture of genres, from the trivial genre to the written genre. The rhythm is perfectly mastered: singing, extended stories, a game with the audience hard-hitting, and beautiful textual flashes.
