Flying Comedians presents an original adaptation of a tale by the Brothers Grimm combining video, shadow play and theatre. Rumpel is to be discovered every day at the Théâtre de L'Oulle at 10:15.
Inspired by thetale of the Brothers Grimm, "Rumpel" revisited by the troupe of Flying Comedians has all the ingredients that make a tale a story both terrifying and breathless whether you are a child or "an old child". In a timeless world a swaggering miller tells anyone who will listen that his innocent daughter, young and beautiful as it should be, can change straw into gold. This news will reach the ears of the king…
In the heart of an evil forest, lives a strange and evil creature that will not stop harassing the girl. He will obtain, by many subterfuges, only once he becomes queen and mother she gives him her firstborn child. Will the charming miller manage to escape the curse? Universal creature, the Rumpel recalls in many ways the characters such as trolls, leprechauns, goblins and other korrigans who haunt our forests and our imaginations since the dawn of time, those of the evenings around a fireplace, but shhh! Don't say it! You have to believe in it, enter effortlessly into the magic and let yourself be lulled just the time necessary to live a fabulous moment!…
Through a remarkably constructed staging, the spectator is drawn into different universes, that of Chinese shadows, plays of lights, harmful beings, touching melancholy, pernicious cunning, the passage from childhood to adolescence and then to adulthood … Lucy Samsoën embodies gentleness and kindness highlighting the various characters played by Pierre Audigier whose dynamism and vivacity are reflected in the ardor and intensity of the lines. Often funny, sometimes touching the scenes follow one another at a hurried pace and allow the reading at several levels of this story that will appeal to any age.
As well as the costumes that have nothing to envy to the rest of the play – admirably designed, they give life with presence and beautiful turn to the different characters – the work in sound and light control brings all the delight to make this show a strong and unforgettable moment.
