The preparation of the 6th Champs-Elysées Film Festival, created by Sophie Dulac, continues with ardor and reserves us several novelties for this 2017 edition. This is an opportunity to look at this Franco-American film festival that has grown more and more over the years.

In order to reinforce its Franco-American theme, the festival innovates and is preparing to present the Parisian premiere of 6 French feature films, selected by journalist and film critic Alex Masson. These will then cross the Atlantic to be presented in the United States. This selection of French films is added to the 6 American films traditionally presented at the Paris festival. After the screening of all the works, a jury of professionals will award two prizes:

  • The Jury Prize for Independent French Film
  • The Jury Prize for Independent American Film

The two winning films will be endowed with a sum of €10,000 given to the distributor. If the film is completely independent and has no distributor, a French distributor will have one year to buy the film in order to receive this endowment.

The awards do not stop there since TITRAFILM will give its "Coup de coeur" to one of the 6 French films and the American magazine Variety will give its "Coup de coeur" to one of the 6 American films. Both prizes will be accompanied by a monetary or media award.

We will also discover among the novelties the creation of a " short film jury" in charge of awarding 2 awards:

  • The French Short Film Jury Prize
  • The American Short Film Jury Prize

This 6th edition of the Champs-Elysées Film Festival will be held in partnership with France Télévision and UniverCiné , which will each award a prize as well:

  • The France Television Award for French Short Film
  • The UniverCiné Award

Finally, as is customary in many festivals, an audience prize will be awarded in each category to decide between the films in competition.

In parallel, US In Progres Paris will be organized as part of the festival's Industries Days , at the initiative of the Champs-Elysées Film Festival and the American Film Festival. Several American fiction or documentary projects will be screened for the first time on the European market, in front of various distributors, festival managers and European buyers. The US In Progress prize will be awarded by a jury of professionals and will be €45,000 (sum corresponding to a set of post-production and promotion services).

The call for films has been open since January 17 for each category and will close on April 10 (April 20 for US In Progress)

So that's a whole program for this new edition of the Champs-Elysées Film Festival. Program that we can't wait to discover here at Justfocus…
