They heated up the machines… This weekend tattoo artists from all over the world covered the skins with their most beautiful works.
Tattoo enthusiast, I went to the Mondial du Tattoo to get a closer look at all that this salon had to offer. Exhibitions, concerts, competitions and especially tattoo artists from all over the world. Indeed, this year, no less than 420 artists settled in the Grande Halle de la Villette. For this 7th edition, Tin-Tin (organizer of the World Cup) had prepared a whole program.
When asked why he rose from the ashes of this now mythical show, he replies: "Having done conventions all over the world, I absolutely wanted Paris to have its own convention." And the France has much to be proud of! With talented representatives such as Dusty Duza or Maud Dardeau for the Tin-Tin team, or Mikael de Poissy and Raphael Tiraf. The world tattoo world is more than 40 countries represented, among our favorites: Alexis Vatete of the Vatican, Miss Juliet, Anthony Flemming and Ryan Smith for England, Ivan Hack and Sasha Unisex for Russia. Group of artists of all kinds
I let myself embark in the aisles, lulled by this recognizable metallic background noise. I meet artists of another kind. Indeed a stand by DR. MARTENS offered engraving on the leather shoes that made the reputation of the brand.
Some stands were dedicated to traditional tattooing, a technique more ancestral than the electric machine used in most shops. A technique undoubtedly more painful but the result is no less incredible. It is practiced using a needle implanted at the end of a wooden or iron handle. The Mondial du Tattoo offers these tattoo artists the opportunity to claim their culture through their art. ( Find the Tattoo: The History of the Tenth Art )
The results of the competitions
On the jury side, we had the cream of tattoo artists with Filip Leu, Bill Salmon, Luke Atkinson and Kari Barda. They elected and rewarded the best tattoos practiced this year. A true anthology of technique and color in front of a crowd of spectators, this year 35,000 visitors were expected.
