Introduced to the cinema via three films, and glimpsed in the second season of Daredevil, The Punisher continues to feed Marvel newsstands with stories more dark than the others.

Worn by Steve Dillon and Becky Cloonan, The Punisher finds itself in its usual small affairs, forced to fight crime and petty thugs. This time he must stop a hostile group, quickly investigating members of the FBI.

The Punisher, aka Frank Castle, uses his usual methods: violence, murder. He leaves no chance to his victims. Without concessions, the character continues his fight against crime. This new opus of the Punisher offers nothing very new. The action scenes remain entertaining, boosted by individuals drugged by an energizing substance, perhaps, in reference, to the gas inhaled by the War Boys in Mad Max Fury Road.

Punisher

A classic scenario for The Punisher

The scenario is based on classic springs without really innovating in the genre. In this new 100% Marvel The Punisher Volume 1 offers nothing surprising to put in the tooth but remains a pleasant entertainment where the Punisher remains true to himself. The taciturn and violent character evolves in discretion, shadow and coldness. However, the protagonist remains in the background and the author does not highlight any internal and personal issues. Finally, this volume offers a minor story that is not essential to the evolution of the character.

However, it is an opportunity to enjoy the inimitable style of the talented Dillon who died recently who was able to restore his nobility to the character during several quality stories with Garth Ennis.
