Philippe Falardeau, Quebec director and screenwriter, offers for his next film a trip into the life of Chuck Wepner. This "outsider" boxer became famous after fighting a historic fight against Mohammed Ali at the 1975 World Heavyweight Championship. For more than fifteen rounds, he stood up to the greatest boxer of all time before bowing. It later inspired the fictional character of Rocky Balboa.
In this film, the director chooses to focus on Wepner's fights outside the ring. Between struggles with his penchant for alcohol, drugs, women and the heights of fame, his life has never ceased to be uneven. Liev Schreiber, Naomi Watts, Ron Perlman, Elisabeth Moss and Jim Gaffigan star of the film.
