Good news for Daniel Craig worshippers and for most fans of the saga: the 49-year-old British actor is back for a 5th, and probably last feature film in the skin of the most charismatic secret agent of the 7th art.
Just 2 days ago, we learned the release date of the next James Bond.The producers have set the date of November 8, 2019, taking care not to reveal anything about the identity of the main actor. So it was the New York Times that gave us the answer and this, almost 2 years after the release of the last Opus: 007 Spectre. Even if the studios and producers of the franchise remain at the moment, still silent, we can consider things as quasi-acted.
After the release of Spectre in November 2015, Daniel Craig claimed to be done with his phlegmatic character. These revelations had caused a lot of ink to flow, and dozens of rumors had emerged as to the potential actors approached to take over the role. This period is finally over, since the one who will have given his 2 biggest box office successes to the saga (Spectre, and Skyfall which had exceeded the billion dollars in worldwide revenue) has left to honor the 5 films provided for in his initial contract. This is the logic that hung over our heads, since the main interested party had then made other statements on the possibility of resuming service, and some English media were already engaged in this track.
While waiting for November 2019, 4 years after the last adventures of 007, we just have to watch for the next announcements about the casting. The director is not yet known, we already know that Christopher Nolan (Dunkirk, Interstellar) has announced himself ready to lead the ship. The singer Adèle Oscar for her interpretation of Skyfall would also be announced back in the credits.
