Tom Cruise, now 55, has always had a taste for risk. But this time, it would have cost the lives of two people on the set of Barry Seal, Doug Liman's latest film. It is for this reason that the star and the director of the film are prosecuted.
Since September 13, the star of Mission Impossible is on the poster of Barry Seal: American Traffic. This film tells the story of a daredevil pilot and drug smuggler in South America in the 80s. As soon as you watch the trailer, you understand that nothing is going to go as planned… This was also the case on the set that became the scene of a real drama. Indeed, two airplane pilots lost their lives in a plane crash on September 11, 2015 (irony when you hold us…). A producer also lost the use of his legs in this accident. And for the families of the two victims, Tom Cruise would be partly responsible for this horrible tragedy.
The website The Blast has obtained documents in which it is learned that the families of Alan Purwin and Carlos Berl , the two deceased pilots, claim that actor and director Doug Liman were behind the fatal crash. The complaint refers to a "high-risk action film" and states that "requests to shoot in Colombia, as well as Tom Cruise and Liman's enthusiasm for multiple takes of large flight sequences, added hours to each workday and added days of shooting." One of the executive producers also complained. He denounces:
"Doug Liman and Tom Cruise added entire flight scenes (…) Within 48 hours, this situation became the craziest I've had to deal with in my life. »
The families of the victims describe the latest flight as "a rushed mission into uncharted terrain, with unknown weather, from a tiny airstrip in the middle of the jungle." They believe in passing that Tom Cruise, accustomed to difficult stunts, could have himself driven the plane presenting him as "a very qualified pilot, accustomed to this type of aircraft and this course".
On August 25, Alan Purwin, one of the pilots who died on set, published on his Instagram account this photo of him with the star by captioning: "Pushing the limits ever further. Working on a movie based on a true story, and super interesting with Tom Cruise. The same day, the pilot also posted a breathtaking sequence, which questions the risks taken during this shooting.
Definitely, Tom Cruise accumulates misfortunes. While he was said to be injured during the filming of Mission Impossible 6, now we find him stuck in a case of justice. Let's hope luck turns for him…
