While the series ended some time ago, Freeform has just announced the start of production of a spin-off of Pretty Little Liars. And at least two actresses would be back!
It's official! Freeform has ordered a pilot for The Perfectionist, based on another novel by Sara Shepard. And the good news is the presence of Janel Parrish and Sasha Pieterse in their respective roles of Mona and Alison, to the delight of Liars fans. But what will be the plot of this novelty?
"We are committed to delivering series that push the boundaries of fiction and become an integral part of our viewers' lives. We look forward to continuing to discover Marlene King's rich and groundbreaking storytelling," said the channel's program director.
A synopsis of the pilot has already been revealed: "Everything in the city of Beacon Heights looks perfect, from their prestigious university to their incredible residences. But nothing in Beacon Heights is what it seems. The oppressive need to be perfect leads to the city's very first murder. Behind every Perfectionist there is a secret, a lie and a necessary alibi."
Remember, at the end of the series, Alison raises her babies with Emily, while Mona takes care of keeping Alex and Mary Drake captive in a new dollhouse. How will the transition be made? Note that Shay Mitchell (Emily) has just been announced as a regular role in the series You on Lifetime, which may not facilitate his potential appearance in this spin-off.
This information does not mean that this spin-off will necessarily see the light of day, given that the pilot has not yet been validated, but fans of Pretty Little Liars are crossing their fingers!
