After having achieved exceptional success with his latest film La La Land, director Damien Chazelle is working on a work dedicated to astronaut Neil Armstrong. We already knew that Ryan Gosling had been given the title role in First Man, and new information has just been leaked about the casting of this biopic.

Dedicated to the extraordinary destiny of Neil Armstrong, The First Man will look back on the career of the astronaut by focusing on his beginnings as a bomber pilot, while going back to his entry into NASA in the 1960s. Widely acclaimed for his performance in La La Land, a film that was awarded six Oscars at the last ceremony, Ryan Gosling will play this major figure of the twentieth century. A man who participated in the mythical Apollo 11 mission that landed on the moon on July 20, 1969 and who now belongs to history.

The First Man is based on a screenplay by Josh Singer, Thomas Mccarthy's collaborator on Spotlight, who won the prestigious Oscars for Best Picture and Best Screenplay in 2015. This new feature film from the director of Whiplash will arrive on our screens on October 12, 2018, foreshadowing an Oscar race for this already successful director. To accompany his new favorite star Ryan Gosling, Damien Chazelle has chosen actor Pablo Schreiber who will play Jim Lovell, commander of the Apollo 13 mission. A man who was played by Tom Hanks in the film Apollo 13 directed by Ron Howard and whose life was just as unusual as Neil Armstrong. Jim Lovell is one of 24 people who flew to the moon and the only one to have been sent twice to this destination without touching the ground. He is also the only person to have traveled to space four times.

An impressive career that will bring to life Pablo Schreiber, spotted with his role in American Gods. An actor who is currently shooting the movie Skyscraper with Dwayne Johnson and who will be found in the second series of American Gods with his character of Mad Sweeney. He will be Ryan Gosling's on-screen partner, Jim Powell having been the commander of the replacement team of the Apollo 11 mission.
