Little Death already has a beautiful story behind it. This fifth volume Les Petites Morts – Retour vers le fémur dates back to the origins of the creation of Les Petites Morts. Entirely created by Davy Mourier, this comic book was released by Delcourt editions in the Humour de rire collection on November 15.

Death personified

What if death were a living being with a lifespan simply greater than that of human beings? If she had a soul? If the great reaper could really be only Little Dead doing the same job? Davy Mourier's imagination takes his readers to the other side, in the daily life of Little Death, as close as possible to his worries and questions, especially philosophical in this fifth volume with a particularly adapted subtitle. A journey through time and space, Les Petites Morts – Retour vers le fémur reveals the existence not only of several generations of Little Dead, but also of several nationalities. Death has no age or country, the Little Dead have existed on all continents since the birth of the universe. The comic strip reviews many of these Little Deaths, staging them at all times and on all continents, humorously highlighting their originality, adapting the illustration to their characteristics.

A succession of black sketches

Les Petites Morts – Retour vers le fémur responds to a simple concept: almost every plate is a new sketch involving a Little Death. The boxes are strewn with cultural or historical references and diversions. From crude winks to much more subtle, Davy Mourier's black humor is for everyone. If not all readers will adhere to the squeaky humor of Little Deaths, it will nevertheless not fail to reach its target at least once. The references are varied enough to wrest a smile from the less enthusiastic readers. The author of Y a pas de miracle and Super poop undoubtedly knows how to handle the pencil and the macabre and proves it in this new opus with the pretty cardboard cover.

A complete universe

In addition to having developed over the comics a complete universe around his Little Death, Davy Mourier is not limited to paper. On Studio 4's YouTube channel, La Petite Mort came to life in a series of animations dedicated to her adventures. Voiced by Brigitte Lecordier, La Petite Mort, surrounded by her family, infuses her black humor into the computers, tablets and phones of her readers, ready to conquer an increasingly wide audience. Like the comic strip, the videos are short sketches of about 4 minutes 30 created and scripted by Davy Mourier and co-written and directed by Joris Clerté and Pierre-Emmanuel Lyet. These short videos are the perfect opportunity to put voices on the characters of the comics and to follow the learning of his future profession by La Petite Mort.
