SteelSeries, a well-known equipment manufacturer for gamers, has a good reputation and generally offers us solid mice that meet the expectations of the most experienced players. Previously using an older generation SteelSeries Sensei (see photo), we are on familiar ground. IMG 20171223 154108 e1515250902360 [Test] The Steelseries Rival 310 mouse, a mouse calibrated for eSports. With the difference that this mouse is right-handed, unlike the ambidextrous Sensei, the comfort of the grip is not negligible. Practical level, grips are present on both sides, which allows to have a better control so that the mouse does not slide whatever the situation. Grips The latest "TrueMove3" sensor from Steelseries, that is to say the same as that of the new Sensei, is one of the best on the market. It largely competes with those produced by Zowie or Razer that target the Gamer/FPS audience. Steelseries EngineAt the software level, Steelseries engine is clearly (for our tester) one of the best parameter management tools, really easy to use and with a permanent follow-up at the level of updates. With Prismsync and Gamesync, user profiles are easily exported between your computers or between games. The software is also much lighter than Razer Synapse. The mouse has an internal memory that allows you to keep its configurations (DPI, sensor sensitivity and others) and change on the fly when launching its games; The color of the 2 LEDs, the programming of the six buttons. All directly via Steelseries Engine. Beyond macros and cosmetics, there is a whole battery of settings for purists such as hooking, acceleration / deceleration or interrogation rate. Steelseries Engine LibraryThe LEDs have several profiles already programmed with a rather nice color rotation (Red Green Blue) but you can choose one or more colors by DPI (sensitivity) on each game. The LEDs will change automatically when each game is launched thanks to the predefined settings in your Steelseries Engine library. After a week of testing on different very demanding games (CSGO, PUBG, Overwatch), the mouse does not disappoint and allows you to aim precisely, it is no surprise that it does the job! Paired with a Steelseries QCK+ Heavy mouse pad, it glides fast and precisely to finish off your enemies without worries.

Now the question is: What to choose between the Sensei and the Rival?

If you don't need 8 buttons, a mini screen on the underside of the mouse (useless according to our tester) and you want the best price/performance ratio, this mouse is for you. Set at a price of € 69.90 the rival SteelSeries 310 will delight hardcore fans of games or even office automation given its comfort and ease of programming. A very honest value for money that allows you to play in good conditions without breaking the bank (its big sister the Sensei costs 99.90 €) Rival's box Unboxing Back of the mouse Face up on The big pluses; the grips for the very good grip and the lightness of the mouse that allows you to aim at high speed. Only downside; The flexible rubber cable, practical certainly but which seems fragile, to see in the long term. A contest is held for a chance to win a SteelSeries QCK + PUBG Limited Edition mouse pad (100 copies only). At the same time, we thank SteelSeries and The Messengers for providing the test material.
