Lies
(risk of spoiler)
It all starts with the start of the school year for our heroine Erika Shinohara, an ordinary high school student. In order to blend into her new class, the girl simply decides to lie. Lies that will cause him a lot of trouble and only make things worse later. Although it starts from a good deed, all this will give rise to feelings and doubts for the future false couple. Since Kyouya Sata (the one Erica is dating) is a high school student at his school and very popular with women.
Moreover, the young man does not accept Erika's lie out of charity but because it suits him and amuses him. His classmate has different reactions from other girls and he intends to take advantage of them. And all he needs is a first exchange with Erica who agrees to bark at his request to convince him. But one thing leading to another, she will also discover that her tormentor could well be the ideal boyfriend. A romance that will make them grow despite a chaotic beginning!
Secret
Erika and Kyouya are two opposing characters who would probably never have met without this lie. Indeed, nothing destined them to be reunited. However, chance and circumstances offer us this love. His two novices of love will not stop testing themselves during this story far from being a fairy tale. Since the young man does not seem in the least to be interested in it although he is always ready to do it a favor.
Still, the sauce doesn't take. Kento Yamazaki (Kyouya) did not convince us, his acting does not represent the charismatic, sadistic and moving character of his anime version. Here, we have only a pale copy that far from softening us has been particularly boring. We are tired of his reactions and his obvious laxity. As for Fumi Nikaido (Erica) it is the same observation, his character lacks depth, courage and determination. Nothing resembles the original work and makes us want to get closer to the characters, quite the contrary. And it's the same for the secondary characters, who also failed to raise the already low level…
A disappointment
We had seen the anime which although being classic had amused us. It is therefore not always easy to have an objective opinion and even less when it is necessary to compare two works from the same medium. The feature film is failed, at least if you know the anime or manga the observation will be without appeal. Indeed, the film is too long, the plot could have stretched over 1H30. Already after an hour, we almost wanted to stop there, because of the blandness of the two characters.
In addition, the characters do not release anything emotionally or expressively. One wonders if they are not forcing themselves. Events follow one another without being really linked to each other.
We had high expectations for this feature film but, the romance of Wolf Girl and Black Prince did not touch our hearts. The plot is too flat, lacks rhythm, emotion and it's a shame. However, if you don't know the manga maybe you will enjoy it.
