Rick Morty's fans do not yet know what the future of their favorite series will be to the point that even co-creator Dan Harmon does not know if the program will have a season 4 or not.
While season 3 ended on a real coup de théâtre of which very few saw coming, the adventures of Rick Sanchez and his grandson Morty Smith seem to be very far from the American channel Adult Swim. Indeed, the American network has not yet ordered the fourth season that all fans are looking forward to. In addition, no other channel has commented on the possibility of resuming the series.
The reasons for this long wait are explained directly and directly by Dan Harmon, the co-creator of the show via a rather peculiar tweet after he was challenged by a fan on the networks about his nonchalance and his "lazy alcoholism":
"I hear well, but it's complicated. On the one hand, it can be a real challenge, especially because of my laziness and alcoholism to write a season that was not ordered by any channel. On the other hand, the fact that it's fans like you who pay the price… I mean… I'm going to have a drink."
For those who remember, the latter is not the first to have expressed reservations about the future of Rick and Morty. Last December, Ryan Ridley, writer and producer of the series already sounded the alarm at the microphone of Detroit Cast:
"I don't know how long it takes to write a season and then animate it. So I wouldn't be surprised if Season 4 doesn't see the light of day until 2019, or even the end of 2019."
Fans can only hope for a happier outcome…
