The remakes are going well on Nintendo's hybrid console, today it is Microïds who announces the return of the arcade game Toki on console!
And not to distort the 1989 opus, Microïds will collaborate with the two original designers of the title, Philippe Dessoly and Pierre Adane, respectively artistic director and developer of the game. Moreover, they give us their impressions of their new collaboration:
"I have a very special relationship with this game that I particularly like, it's in a way my Madeleine de Proust! From the first notes of music, I plunge back to the time of the adaptation of the title on Amiga and Atari where there was then a special atmosphere in the video game world. It's a memorable memory for me, so when 30 years later I was offered to do this remake, it was impossible for me to refuse. I really enjoy improving and reinterpreting character designs and sets. Toki, a human warrior, lives a peaceful primitive life deep in the jungle with his beloved Miho. This was without counting on the voodoo wizard Doctor Vookimedlo who, captivated by Miho's beauty, decides to kidnap her and transform Toki into a monkey with a patibular physiognomy. Aided by the demon Bashtar, Doctor Vookimedlo takes refuge in his Golden Palace on the other side of the world with Miho. Determined to find her, Toki will then embark on a perilous adventure to reach the home of Doctor Vookimedlo, save his sweetheart and regain her appearance.
The old warrior must adapt to his new form and failing to use conventional weapons, use his powerful jaw to spit strange projectiles to eliminate his enemies. Over the course of his adventure, Toki will find items that will help him continue his quest: from an American football helmet, to a pair of fins and a snorkel.
