Stunfest is a video game event like no other: a mix of eSports, fun and video game culture. It will take place in Rennes, from 14 to 20 May. A renowned international festival, Stunfest returns after a one-year break.
Widely attended by players in the video game sector, the Rennes festival offers a new program with the motto "discover video games in all its forms". There's nothing like playing, seeing, listening, testing and sharing.
The Stunfest in a few figures is
- 14 years of existence
- 12,000 festival-goers at the 2016 edition
- 35 indie games in the last edition
- 350 volunteers and stakeholders to energize the festival
The history of Stunfest
Born in 2005 under the impetus of the Rennes association 3 Hit Combo, the Stunfest was basically a tournament of fighting games. The festival quickly reached a wider audience by mixing video game cultures. The main objective was to push the public to question its relationship with a cultural object in constant evolution. Then the programming was enriched and widely diversified, reaching a larger audience. The local festival then became an international event.
The Stunfest allows via the ADDON meeting to generate cultural meetings around video games, between professionals and individuals. The ADDON meetings are an opportunity to approach video games as an art with their artistic, creative, technical and conceptual aspects. This event involving professionals encourages innovative practices and creative spirit. Co-produced by 3 Hit Combo and Atlangames since 2017, these are part of the Stunfest 2018 program. The ADDON meetings participate in the animation and also allow game creators, publishers and amateurs in France, Europe and the world to meet. Together, they can exchange on their skills and practices. This year, professions related to video games such as researchers, education, animation and culture professionals will be present.
Stunfest is a mix of the presence of major world players, creators, researchers, festival-goers… All around games, conferences, concerts, independent games, superplay, musical games, classics …
