Announced at E3 2017, Sushi Striker – The way of sushido is coming to a global release on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS family systems.

Developed by the Indieszero studio and published by Nintendo, Sushi Striker is one of the only exclusive novelties of the Japanese firm alongside Kirby Star Allies and Mario Tennis Aces for the first half of 2018. Here we are offered a puzzle-game/action oriented game based on one of the most popular Japanese dishes around the world, sushi !

The fights pit two opponents each with access to three sushi-laden treadmills, plus a seventh shared mat, in the center. By selecting and linking plates of sushi of the same color, players create piles that they must then project at the opponent, inflicting damage until one of them wins. The damage depends on the color and size of the batteries used, but it is possible to increase or decrease the effectiveness of attacks through various combos and modifiers. Particularly fast and intense, the action also has a tactical dimension that only really becomes visible when the basics of the game are mastered.

Sushi Striker 1

In the world of Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido, an evil Empire exerts relentless domination over the sushi industry, forbidding the consumption of this dish by the citizens of a defeated republic. At the beginning of the story, Musashi, our orphan hero (an avatar playable in female or male), leaves his small village on an empty stomach, but with a dream in mind: the dream of a country that no longer knows hunger and in which everyone can finally enjoy sushi! During his journey, he meets a traveler who turns out to be a sushist warrior and who reveals to him the basics of the sushi battle. Musashi then decides to embark on a great adventure, persevere in this discipline and face the enemies that stand in his way.As in all epic quests, the supernatural is of particular importance: "sushinities" play a key role in Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido. Sushinities are divine beings with the power to invoke sushi in our world. They can use their special abilities to help the sushists to whom they are related. Early in the adventure, Musashi encounters the powerful Jinrai sushinity, who quickly becomes a valuable companion. However, there are many other sushinities to discover and collect, more than 50 in total, many of which can evolve into more powerful forms. It is possible to equip yourself with three sushinities at once, and to develop combat strategies, it is up to you to combine their abilities as well as possible.

In view of the simultaneous release on the two consoles currently being marketed by Nintendo and by its theme and gameplay, you will obviously have understood that both games will have a multiplayer mode whether online or local (the Switch version will be supported by Nintendo's Online service)

The appointment is therefore made for June 8 for sushi lovers, when Sushi Striker – The way of Sushido will be released worldwide on Nintendo Switch and 3DS. This game is probably the least anticipated of the Nintendo banner, but will it be able to change the minds of players once in our stalls?
