Unity Technologies and Google Cloud, two major players in the industry, are joining forces to offer a suite of tools and services to make, launch and improve connected games. Unity Technologies (unity3d.com/ and unity3d.com/fr), creator of the world's most widely used 3D development platform, announces the migration of its infrastructure to the Google Cloud platform.

"The many Unity developers who together produce more than half of the world's games are proud," said John Riccitiello, general manager of Unity Technologies. Multiplayer products have long been the fastest growing type of games. But they are also the most complex to create and support optimally. Our alliance with Google Cloud will help developers build multiplayer games more easily, as well as operate them at an optimized cost on a global scale. »

With Unity, access to connected games made easier for developers

Connected games are today the most popular and watched. Their realization, for its part, remains a challenge that requires resources, reliable technology and significant knowledge. Unity and Google Cloud make it possible to have important tools at hand such as the hosting of a multi game server and a new open source "matchmaking" project created by the two manufacturers. Unity will release a fully managed version of the open source matchmaking project, integrated into its development environment and running in a Google Cloud environment.

"Just as Unity is committed to democratizing game development, we're working hard to democratize the use of advanced technologies through the cloud," said Diane Greene, CEO of Google Cloud. We look forward to working with Unity to ensure developers can use the tools and infrastructure they need to build, launch, and optimize their products globally. »

Unity migrates to Google Cloud

Google Cloud shows its desire to help video game publishers. This allows Unity and its ecosystem to take advantage of Google Gloud's reliability, security, and scalable capability.

"We decided to migrate our infrastructure to Google Cloud because of the tremendous global scale of this platform, as well as the quality of this product. Now, Unity's developers will be able to leverage its best-in-class capabilities to meet their cloud needs on a global scale," added Riccitiello.

Unity promises to solve the complex problems faced by all its customers, in the multiple industries where its 3D development platform facilitates the creation and launch of new products. Unity currently supports more than 60% of ongoing virtual/augmented reality (VR/AR) experiences, supports 25 platforms, and works on nearly 3 billion devices worldwide.
