The anime Tokyo ghoul has created many debates in the past with its season 2 very criticizable for its scripted choices. Nevertheless, this return of the mythical anime of the studio Pierrot marks a real renewal with a different point of view: that of the CCG (Ghoul Control Center).
An amnesiac and tortured hero
Everyone knows, Ken Kaneki the main protagonist of the anime has always been very tortured between his human side and his ghoul side. In Tokyo Ghoul:re he is now named Haise Sasaki and suffers from amnesia, a symptom due to his fight against the GCC the previous season. Despite his memory loss, we find an increasingly tortured hero who does everything not to fall back into his ghoul past. Faced with this, he remains very human and always puts the lives of others before his own. He is now a first-class inspector at the head of a group of genetically modified inspectors: the Quinx Task Force. He will do everything to prove to everyone the value of his team.
An increasingly influential GCC
2 years after the GCC attack on the ghouls of the 20th, the atmosphere of Tokyo is not at all the same because of the increase in the influence of the GCC. Ghouls remain a threat especially with their terrorist organization Aogiri, but they are less active and aware of the danger posed by the GCC. Haise Sasaki's point of view also allows us to see how much this structure has evolved, especially with the creation of the Quinx task force composed of one-eyed ghouls. The anime focuses on this point of view and on the evolution of this team of characters more eccentric than each other.
This anime marks a very interesting continuity with Tokyo Ghoul while bringing a totally different vision from previous seasons. A captivating sequel that we look forward to continuing.
