On June 15, Barbara Pravi's first eponymous EP will be released. 7 delicious titles, 7 songs that we love and that we really want to tell you.
This delicious sparkling brunette that we could see in the first part of Calum Scott has not finished amazing us. Sweet, smiling, radiant, the few words we were able to exchange with Barbara Pravi immediately made a good impression on us. Suffice to say that we were waiting to listen to his first EP with impatience.
And it is with pleasure that we find the titles that we could hear live, arranged with the same spontaneity and the same freshness. These are 7 songs that completely conquered us.
The EP opens with Pas Grandir. Barbara's first single, unavoidable. This title sounds naïve and candid, but it should not be trusted. If you listen carefully and listen carefully to the lyrics, the message is strong. The singer positions herself as the banner of a generation and claims certain evils that she denounces. Family, work, feminism… Everything goes through with subtlety and a frankness that feels good.
His second title is Un bout de vie; I serve is an experience that feels lived. Here again no false pretense: it is without detour that she tells her misadventures as a waitress. It's the little job you have when you start in life, the easiest to find and often the most thankless. Here again she denounces attitudes, lack of respect, politeness… Sideways looks… And the fact of always having to stay smiling and well from all angles. We salute the handling of the language !
And this facility that Barbara Pravi has to play with words is confirmed in Louis. More than a statement, it is a poem, an ode… The young singer joins with ease the great names of French song and we come to think that her first name has something prophetic. Love, sensuality… all just in piano voice! This title is of a beautiful emotional intensity. We shudder.
Saint-Raphaël is a lighter piece. Summer atmosphere, more in the trend of what is done today, a little electro folk that relates a holiday memory. It's sweet and tangy like a candy that stings. We find the sparkling side of Barbara. This title could perfectly be a summer hit. But again if you listen, there is a little message in the text. Behind the holiday story, a little Carpe Diem. Nostalgia for a passing of time…
Finally comes the wonderful title Deda, such sweet and beautiful confidence of a little girl to her grandmother. Attempt at communication and sublime exchange between two generations that everything separates and who finally find themselves around love. Two parallel lives that come together. So much tenderness. Be careful, this song can move you to tears.
Then comes a song that we had not heard yet: We will wake up ! Pop song par excellence, but one that speaks of this awareness that the world needs right now. Under the musical lightness, Barbara expresses loud and clear her feelings in the face of the indifference that can be shown in the face of the problems of the world. It is difficult to sing hope; The words are harsh, but at the same time this title sounds like a song of hope.
To conclude, the EP ends with the fabulous duet with Calum Scott that we told you about not long ago.
We suspected that Barbara Pravi had things to say, but we did not imagine that she would be so committed from her first EP and it is a nice surprise, what do I say, an immense satisfaction to see that she gives a real meaning to what she writes and sings. Thank you!
Barbara Pravi will be in concert on June 28 at Les Etoiles and it will be an opportunity to meet her and discover a little more about her universe. We highly recommend that you take your seats.
