Tito and the Birds is directed by a Brazilian trio and represents the country in the list of films in competition. It tells how a group of young children will save the city from a strange disease. Mats Grorud's Out of Competition The Tower tells the story of Wardi, an 11-year-old Palestinian refugee who learns the history of her country through her family. Finally, Tropical Virus, adapted from the Swedish graphic novel by Åsa Grennvall, is also in competition. It tells the story of Paola who grew up between Ecuador and Colombia in a colorful family. Surrounded by strong female personalities, she developed a singular vision of the world and gradually found her place in a world that did not wait for her.
On the side of music in animated films, we went to meet Ruben Feffer to talk about Tito and birds, the importance of music in animation, the lack of resources of Brazilian projects: he told us everything. As for the sessions, we attended De Visu which is a presentation in 10 animated of the world of visual music. If we had to recommend one, it would be Recordare, just for originality and technical and visual prowess. Recordare pushes the limits of animation a step further by using lifeless bodies to create its images.
Our second session of the day is also in the theme of music, classical this time. Classical music and cinema, that was our last session. We saw the wonderful homogeneity between classical music and animation. And a project to captivate our attention: it is Parade, the anime adaptation created by a young Japanese of his own play. Wacky, political, offbeat and well drawn, Parade will not leave you marble.
