Worn by Cameron Diaz and Toni Colette, who are no longer introduced, In her shoes is an essential dramatic comedy. Both funny and moving, the film looks at the rivalry between sisters.

Rose and Maggie are two sisters who are opposed. One has the tidy life of a lawyer, the other chains conquests and odd jobs. They love each other but tear each other apart. When Maggie does the stupid thing too much, Rose chases her away. She then took refuge with her grandmother, whose existence they did not know.

Curtis Hanson (director of 8 Mile ) shows a well-crafted script. It is even surprising to see the quality of the narrative in the genre. Indeed, it is usual to find the same scenes, the same characters. Some clichés are certainly present but quickly erased. The balance between emotion and humor is rather well established.

Regarding the photography, there is clearly a contrast between the first and second parts of the film. Indeed, a change is felt between the greyness of Philadelphia and the luminescent Florida. This choice of contrast is rather judicious since it is in Florida that the two sisters will rediscover and flourish.

Cameron Diaz plays one of his best roles. She manages to vacillate between her usual role of superficial bimbo and feverish woman who struggles to find her place in society. The viewer even meets her touching when Maggie learns to read with Elizabeth Bishop's poem Art .Toni Colette shows us once again the extent of her talent. Rose is always put in the background, she lets the needs of others come before her own, yet the viewer quickly realizes the strength she shows by holding her family at arm's length.

In her shoes has become a must of the genre, to see at least once.
