Announced by his family a few days earlier, the official clip of his flagship title SAD! just landed on YouTube. Available for just a few hours, the clip already has more than 5 million views.
Following his death, American artist Jahseh Dwayn Onfroy was propelled to the top of the Billboard 100, and made more than 10 million streams in the space of one day on Spotify. His death moved millions. On June 28, the artist's official YouTube account unveiled a music video for his world-famous track, SAD!. The music video seems to be more oriented towards the short film than the music video, but it reflects the personality and artistic atmosphere of XXXTentacion.
On these 6 minutes more intense than the others, XXXTentacion stages (he also directs the clip) at his own funeral. He is seen walking up the aisle of the church to the coffin where his body rests. We can recognize by the hair of the deceased the old cut of Triple X, half blond, half brown. Eventually, this body will rise up and start fighting with the XXXTentacion alive and well. In the middle of this scene is interspersed that of a virgin, cold setting, where the rapper is facing an entity that will talk to him about his feelings and sensations. In its own way, XXXTentacion tells us about the distinction between his old him and his new him. He tried to bury the person he was, but she keeps coming back and he has to push her away every time.
Once again, the rapper opens his heart to his audience and makes us taste the world that seems to be his, an inner struggle mixed with depression – depression imaged by this hooded entity that tells him about what he is really experiencing.
