Many writing competitions by publishing houses: to your keyboards!

For those who have always been thirsty to write or have forgotten manuscripts in their closets, there is time to use your free time to participate in writing competitions. Fortunately, different publishing houses allow you to do so right now! Personal development, geek, feminine writing or even youth… there is something for everyone! 

Editions Jouvence and Librinova

Librinova and youth On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Éditions Jouvence and the 20th anniversary of the Quatre Accords toltèques (one of their flagship publications) Éditions Jouvence launched a major writing competition in partnership with Librinova. From November 15 to April 30, aspiring authors can participate by writing a fictional story based on one or more of the following themes:

  • The Four Toltec Agreements
  • Nonviolent ® Communication
  • Letting Go
  • Sisterhood

So there are still a fortnight left to send your participation! Be careful, however, several criteria must be respected: the text must be between 80,000 and 120,000 characters (including spaces) and leave room for the imagination! This means that even if it refers to your experience, it must be written as fiction and if possible, follow the structure of the narrative scheme (initial situation, disruptive element(s), adventures, element of resolution, final situation). Testimonials will not be taken into account. The three winners will win the following prizes:

  • The first will see its text published in the fall of 2020. He will benefit from the communication expertise of Éditions Jouvence.
  • The next two winners will benefit from the publication of their book in digital and print versions by Librinova.

The form is free, you can choose the form you want to this logbook: fiction, comedy, testimony, practical or tourist guide … And it is even possible to write it to several. Charleston

Charleston With strong texts like Rest with me by Ayobami Adebayo or which invites us to escape like the series of the 7 sisters of Lucinda Riley, Charleston has established itself as the publisher of the feminine since 2013. Already organizer of the Romantic Book Prize, Charleston Editions opens a new call for manuscripts for a new prize: the Committed Heroine Prize. Formerly called the Prix de la Puissance au Féminin, "this prize was born from the desire to take this approach, to give a voice to a character, or a gallery of characters, inspiring feminine (s), which forces us to question what we can do individually and collectively, on the notions of feminism and sisterhood." To compete, you will need to present a novel with feminist themes. The jury of this prize (sponsored by Camille Sfez, author of La Puissance du Féminin) will be composed of actors from the entire book chain: the Charleston publishing team, a paperback publisher, Marie Morel of the bookstore Le Comptoir des mots, journalists, readers and bloggers. It will reward the message conveyed by this novel, as well as the literary and human quality of the story. You have until August 31, 2020 to send your texts (between 250,000 and 600,000 characters maximum) by email to info@editionscharleston.fr respecting all the terms specified in the regulations. Rageot

Rageot Rageot editions had the great idea of organizing a collaborative writing contest during the confinement period. This contest, which runs from March 26 to May 31, 2020, is aimed at middle school students and will allow them to share a literary adventure remotely. Véronique Petit, author of Le Mot d'Abel and Vivre ses vies, imagined the beginning of a story inspired by the current situation. The goal is to invent the sequel! It's easy to participate! All you have to do is set up a team (reading club, group of middle school students, class…). Then, you have to read the beginning of Véronique Petit's story and imagine the rest with her team. Rageot also offers participants to help them write by registering each team on the collaborative writing platform. Unpublished trees (here) The texts (maximum length 15,000 characters) are to be finalized by May 31, 2020 and sent to ccornet@rageotediteur.fr They will be read by a jury made up of members of the editorial team. 404 editions

404editions The writing contest offered by 404 editions is a 100% geek writing contest. It has been taking place for 4 years now and coincides with the creation of 404 factory, a collaborative writing platform where anyone can choose to post their texts and interact with the rest of the community. Each year, the Grand Prix 404 Factory rewards an aspiring writer by moving them from screen to paper. The terms and conditions of this contest:

  • 3 months of writing
  • 8 possible literary genres: apocalypse, fan fiction, fantasy, gaming, sci-fi, steampunk, superheroes and #LOL
