Episode 20 of the third season of My Hero Academia will be available on Saturday, August 25, on the DNA platform. At the end of the previous episode, a short excerpt announced that the sequel will be an "original story", therefore not taking up the plot of the manga. And for good reason, episode 20 will actually have a direct link with the movie My Hero Academia: Two Heroes, released on August 3, 2018 in Japan!
A special episode for a good cause!
Season 3 of My Hero Academia had already offered some new scenes, not appearing in the manga. This time, it's a whole episode that the season will devote to an original story. And this one will not be the least! It will offer, indeed, a small leap into the past, taking place between season 2 and season 3. It is during this period that the film Two Heroes takes place, to which the episode will be directly connected.
Animation studios often use so-called "special series" scenes and episodes in order to lengthen the seasons and not catch up too quickly with the manga. However, episode 20 of season 3 of My Hero Academia, entitled "Save the world with love!", was not born for this purpose.
If it will be well linked to the film Two Heroes in its plot, episode 20 is also part of a Japanese charity, carried nationally by television. This one, called 24h TV – Love Saves The Earth, invites all Japanese television channels to change their programs or adapt them to the event. So, instead of removing the weekly episode of My Hero Academia, the production chose to adapt it! Two birds with one stone since the episode will also serve as a promotion for the film of the franchise, still broadcast in Japanese theaters.
While waiting for the release of the film in European theaters, episode 20 of the third season of the anime will probably give you a taste. You can also wait and check out our review of Two Heroes!
