[Criticism] A Star Is Born: A moving soundtrack

For the release of A Star Is Born, director, singer and actor Bradley Cooper joined forces with actress and singer Lady Gaga, to unveil to the world a soundtrack full of emotions with new tracks.

A Star Is Born : The Movie

First of all, released in 2018, A Star Is Born is the third film version of William A's film. Wellman, released in 1937. At the very beginning, Clint Eastwood and singer Beyoncé are in negotiations for this version. Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp would have been possible actors for the lead role. 

However, in March 2015, Warner Bros. confirmed that Bradley Cooper was making his directorial debut in the film and in May 2016, Lady Gaga was finally confirmed as having the female lead. 

A Star Is Born : The Soundtrack

Lady Gaga is truly the star of the project. She sings almost all the songs, sometimes accompanied by Bradley Cooper. In general, these are country ballads , very close to the sounds of her old album Joanne, with some exceptions, including Rnb with Why Did You Do That and Hair Body Face. So we have a predominance of Joanne with some echoes of The Fame. 

Moreover, not only does Lady Gaga expose us to these two facets, but she uses jazz; music she shared on stage with singer Tony Bennett. Indeed, Lady Gaga makes a jazz cover of La Vie En Rose that gives chills from the first seconds of listening by its vocal power. 

It is Lady Gaga's skin-deep interpretation in each track that makes this soundtrack something sublime, especially the wonderful Always Remember Us This Way, written by Lady Gaga and Hillary Lindsey (Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift) and Is That Alright? where we hear at the end of the song, a crack in her voice that highlights the impeccable interpretation of the singer in terms of channeling pain. 

A Star Is Born is an extremely successful soundtrack. There are all the right ingredients: two professional singers who exude a lot of charm. We listen to it on Shallow and I'll Never Love Again : behind Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, there is a real friendship. A Star Is Born contains songs that will make us vibrate, that will appeal to old loves and make us travel in a world where true emotion predominates.
