After making us dream for 30 years, Cirque Plume bows out by offering us an intense, festive, funny and poetic show. The marquee area of La Villette hosts this unique universe until December 30th.

A departure without nostalgia, all in poetry and joviality

Since 1991, Cirque Plume has set up its big top 8 times at La Villette. Once again, the public is at the rendezvous for this farewell party. Even before the show begins, the audience is on a tightrope: between looking forward to discovering Cirque Plume's new creation and emotion to be about to attend their last show. Because yes, whether we have been following the troupe for a few years already or seeing them for the first time, everyone knows that they come to say goodbye.

But the public is quickly reassured, after the opening on a mysterious atmosphere, that of the Jura forests that mix majesty and fears, nature and banter, joy takes over. We are then invited to enter the magical and poetic world of elves and monsters… Thanks to an inventive and evolving décor, beautifully crafted lights, pieces performed as usual live and of course circus virtuosities, Cirque plume offers us a "show of joy, simple and colorful".

The artists are half-men, half-animals, hybrid creatures, they make us go from burlesque to poetry in a guitar note. In the air, on the boards, on a wire, the prowess unfolds and the seasons pass. We can sometimes regret that the humor takes up a little too much space and is a little redundant, but it is largely compensated by the mysterious and aesthetic universe that punctuates this Last Season. A touch of melancholy and delicacy and here we are wrapped in dreams.

30 years later, the spirit of Cirque Plume remains

Beyond the prowess of the artists, it is the imprint of Cirque Plume that resonates in this tent. In 1984, the brothers Bernard and Pierre Kudlak and seven acolytes created a circus in a black box, head-on, breaking with the traditional codes of the circus. Facilitating illusion, inputs and exits, this configuration allows them to embark the spectator more intensely in their particular poetic and musical universe. In particular, it serves wonderfully the play of shadows and lights.

The Last Season is also a hymn to the mentality of Cirque Plume: "the spirit of celebration, politics, dreams, poetry, music and bodies, in a fraternal, non-violent and popular desire". A mixture that they master without a doubt.

Tempus Fugit spoke of the passing of time, here, this time is transposed into nature, with the four seasons. This is an opportunity for Cirque Plume to echo our ecological concerns. Certainly here, they play on the power of trees, the majesty of snow and the power of wind, but the poetry of the elements cannot make us forget their fragility. Even when a pile of plastic bags pour onto the stage all in color and lightness, our consciousness is titillated: through poetry, laughter and beauty, the message is conveyed.

And if it wasn't totally over…

Let's not say goodbye too quickly, the Last Season is still playing at La Villette until the end of December. Then it will go on the roads of France and beyond until 2020. In 30 years, Cirque Plume has made 2 million spectators dream. It takes time to say goodbye to all!

At the end of the tour, the Kudlak brothers will be over 65 years old, but they do not regret anything, they do not "want to do tired shows". And they know the transmission assured: "you will share other eternities with other artists. With those who play in this Last Season, I have no doubt. We will always be with you. Maybe even sitting next to you on the hard bleacher of a blossoming marquee. We have not finished being moved. »

Don't miss this Last Season under any circumstances!
