Following the great success of the charity gaming operation Z Event in 2017, its organizer ZeratoR renews it! This year, a team of 38 streamers will meet on November 9, 10 and 11, 2018 for the benefit of Médecins sans Frontières.
Concept and origins of the Z Event
If you missed it in 2017, here is in a few words the concept of the Z Event. This is a video game marathon performed live by participating streamers. Each broadcasts live from their Twitch page; gathered in the same room for three days, they play for a good cause! Indeed, all donations collected during this period are donated to a humanitarian organization. Last year, the proceeds of the event were destined for the Red Cross, following the devastating passage of Hurricane Irma.
But, the origin of the Z Event goes back a little earlier. The inspiration of Adrien Nougaret, alias ZeratoR to create this charity event comes from the one organized in 2013 by Bachir "Athene" Boumaaza, in which he participates. The Belgian streamer's operation, dubbed "Avengers", was already aimed at reacting to a natural disaster. Then, in 2016, he again answered Athene's call to combat drought in Ethiopia and organized a live multi-streamers session. It is by noting the sums collected and the strong potential of mobilization of streamers and their spectators, that he will decide to launch the Z Event the following year!
The figures of the Z Event 2017
Concretely, what did this first edition give? An update on the results:
- 3 consecutive days
- 60 hours total of live marathon
- 30 Streamers gathered
- 500,000 unique visitors
- 109,382 simultaneous hearings maximum
- 487 578, 66€ of donations collected!
This impressive financial success had even made the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, react:

What to expect this year?
The list of confirmed streamers for the event shows so far: Aayley, Alderiate, Alphacast, Aypierre, Bestmarmotte, DFG, Diabalzane, Doigby, Domingo, Gius, Gob, Gotaga, Hexakil, Jeel, Jiraya, Kameto, Kenny, Laink, Lapi, Lege, Locklear, LRB, Lutti , Maghla, Mickalow, MisterMV, MoMaN, Narkuss, Nono, Nyo, Sardoche, Terracid, Trinity, Tweekz, Wakz, Xari, Zankioh and, last but not least, ZeratoR.

As you can see, now is the time to support a good cause at the same time as your favorite streamer! A donation button should be added under each streamer's live as soon as the marathon launches.
The financial success of the 2017 charity event had allowed a certain echo in the mainstream news. Le Monde, FranceInfo… For once, we can only rejoice at the positive media impact on the image of the video game medium. What will happen this year, will we see other public figures greet the event?
