It is not for culinary specialties that Ridley Scott takes over the castles of the Dordogne, but for his next film.

Accompanied by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, Ridley Scott is currently filming "The Last Duel", an adaptation of the French novel Last Duel: Paris, December 29, 1386 by Edgar Jager. The film will take up the story of the book which tells the deadly duel between a Norman knight and one of his friends whom his wife accuses of rape, all on a fourteenth century setting.

According to France Bleu Périgord, the film team arrived last week and will occupy the castles of Beynac, Fénelon and the bastide of Monpazier until the end of March.

The first photos of the preparation of the castle of Beynac already appear on Twitter:

The Dordogne is not an unknown playground for Ridley Scott, since it is there that he will take his first steps as a director with The Duellists. Released in 1976, the film was spread over a period of 20 years during the Napoleonic Wars and remains today one of Ridley Scott's masterpieces.

In the meantime, the "new duel" of the American director will not be visible in our theaters before January 13, which gives us plenty of time to learn more about the film.
