After the success of the fantasy series The Witcher, Netflix continues its momentum with Cursed. Thus, the famous platform created its own adaptation of the Arthurian legend with a young woman in the lead role. In a completely different register than Kaamelott, the series could make fans of the legend wait. Adapted from the graphic novel of the same name by Frank Miller, creator of Sin City and Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Katherine Langford (13 Reasons Why) will be the heroine. Two years after the movie King Arthur: The Legend of Excalibur, this series seems to please fans of the Merlin series.
The legend through the eyes of the future Lady of the Lake
The young actress will play the character of Nimue, a teenager with a mysterious gift. She is also destined to become the Lady of the Lake, also known as Fairy Viviane, the one who must give Excalibur to the future King Arthur. We will find the excellent Gustaf Skarsgård (Vikings, Westworld) in the role of Merlin, which Nimue will go looking for. She will ally with Arthur, a young mercenary, who will be played by Devon Terrell (Barry). Thus, the two young people will fight against the Red Paladins and King Uther Pendragon (Sebastian Armesto, Gold Digger). Apart from these elements, the rest of the plot is unclear. This rewrite will also explore many themes, including that of the coming of age. Like any adaptation of the Arthurian legend, the value of courage will not be left out, at a time when wars and religious obscurantism are scourges. According to the latest news, the first season of Cursed will have ten episodes of one hour each. According to Entertainment Weekly, this new series could appear on the platform this summer. However, no release date has been communicated to date.
