The French publisher Microids (Syberia) decides to develop two great classics of comics. Get ready to find The Smurfs but also Tintin on consoles! It seems that Microids is very fond of comic book adaptations. After Asterix and Obelix XXL 3 but also Blacksad: Under the Skin, the publisher announces the development of Tintin and the Schtoumpfs.
Name of a Smurf!
The famous comic strip created by Peyo has been offered many video game adaptations since 1982. OSome Studio, already known for the adaptation of Asterix is in charge of the development of this brand new game featuring the little blue characters! Elliot Grassiano, Vice President of Microids explains:

Thanks to this intergenerational license combined with the know-how of OSome Studio, with whom we have already collaborated on family games, we want to bring players together in the fabulous world of the Smurfs. The worldwide success of this license will also allow us to further extend our reputation across the Atlantic and establish our position as a major player in video games internationally.
I would say even more: a new adaptation for Tintin!
Tintin, the famous reporter created by Hergé, has not given any sign of life in the video-game world. His last appearance was in Ubisoft's The Secret of the Unicorn , which picked up the events of Steven Spielberg's film. Stéphane Longeard, CEO of Microids, said:

This agreement is the culmination of a process of creation and reflection that has made it possible to identify the major options that will animate this development and its joint implementation between our respective societies. Also, we learn that the game will be in collaboration with Moulinsart! Nick Rodwell, the company's director, confirmed this during the press conference:
The development of a new PC and console game in a fun, immersive and interactive environment contributes to the continuity of the Adventure of the most famous reporter. The ambition is above all entertaining and friendly in order to reach a large family audience. Microids is the ideal partner to accompany Tintin in this new adventure.
Two creations that we are eagerly awaiting to know more. At the moment, we don't know much about these two ongoing projects. But there's no doubt that they'll have to be available on upcoming next-gen consoles. Case to follow!
